Name: Iroh
Age:old Not mentioned canonly, but I'd guess somewhere in his mid-60s.
Canon: Avatar: the Last Airbender
Canon Point: End of Book 3 when Team Avatar and friends are at the Jasmine Dragon
Physical Description: Having escaped from prison a little over a month before, he's still fit and trim from the weeks he spent preparing for his escape. His long robes do a good job of hiding his physique though. The top of his head is bald, but his hair is long and grey in the back, a perfect match to his slightly-pointed beard.
Canon Abilities: Adding this in to make note of a couple things that go beyond his bending abilities, listed at the bottom.
Spirituality: Way back after his son, Lu Ten, died, Iroh had taken a long trip around the world. Rumors spread that he had ventured into the Spirit World (to look for Lu Ten). For a human that is most certainly not the Avatar, to do this is an extremely rare occurence, especially with the Spirit Portals still closed. He has a connection with the spirits, as he could see Roku's dragon, Fang, carrying Aang's spirit around the Winter Solstice when none of the Earth Kingdom soldiers who captured him could. He could also tell that Princess Yue had some of the Moon Spirit in her after noting her blue eyes shining out when everything else was dim and grey in the dark. It can also be inferred that he may have also been a bit more spiritual than most when he was young too, as he had been granted a vision of himself taking Ba Sing Se.
Nonbending combat: Despite his incredible talent in firebending, it's heavily implied that Iroh can do quite well fighting without it. While his escape from prison started shortly before the eclipse, he made it past the guards and made it out when no firebending was possible. Early in the series, when Zuko caught up with him and helped fend off five earthbender soldiers, he showed considerable physical strength (despite not appearing to be in good physical shape) and skill, using the broken chains shackled to his wrists to fend off their attacks, including to fling a large rock--about twice the size of his head--back towards where it came from.
Possessions: Clothes on his back, rolled up picture of his son in pocket, and his tsungi horn (he had been playing it in the Jasmine Dragon while hosting Team Avatar and co. after the war).

Personality:
Iroh is best known for being a very easygoing guy. In Book 1, Zuko called him lazy a lot, but he was really more of a go-with-the-flow type. He understands everything happens for a reason and there are some things in life you can't change. He would often take things at his own pace, telling Zuko to be patient, take time to enjoy life. Over the course of his life, Iroh has also managed to find calm and inner peace. Any conflict within him has long-since been quelled, as proven by his ability to generate lightning. This is in opposition to the amorality that his brother and niece employ for lightning generation. It's also exemplified in that he was judged worthy to learn firebending from the masters, Ran and Shaw, rather than having it fueled by rage and anger.
Despite being stripped of his birthright to the throne after the death of his father, Iroh made no move to put in his claim against Ozai. In fact, he remained on his leave, traveling the world. Even on his return, he retired from the military and didn't fight for the throne. Years later, when giving the Avatar advice on choosing between happiness and love or power and perfection (of the Avatar State), he said he believed power and perfection to be overrated. This part of his personality, as well as a few other bits, is very likely to have resulted from the death of his son, Lu Ten. Losing a loved one in the pursuit of power (for his nation) brought him to see what really mattered in life.
He shows respect where it's due and a little more than that too. It doesn't matter who someone is, where they're from, rich, poor, bender, nonbender, young, old, human, nature, spirit. This respect, especially for those in the other nations and their cultures led him to being in the Order of the White Lotus, a secret society that transcended the borders. He even lied about killing the last dragon to protect the last two and the Sun Warriors' hidden culture, promising never to tell he found them. He offers them manners, kindness, and respect. Until they break it, and even then, he can be very forgiving. Unless...
When Iroh's being serious about something, he doesn't screw around. If he tells you to let that spirit go, you better let it go five seconds ago. Yeah, looking at you Zhao the Moon-Slayer. If he issues an ultimatum, it's not a threat because he means it. While he's normally laid back and super chill, he does have rare moments where he does get angry or raise his voice. In those moments, he has good reason to. Even rarer are the moments when he does so to scold Zuko. The one time I can think of was under Lake Laogai when he was calling Zuko out for not thinking through his plans, including his failed capture of the Avatar in the North Pole. However, a lot of that anger was coming from concern for his nephew as he told Zuko to start asking himself some big soul-searching questions about his life.
With everything he's experienced in his life, it would be easy for him to hold a grudge against so many people. While he recognizes his younger brother is incapable of love (because, seriously, who burns their son in the face and banishes them?), he doesn't seem to hold a grudge over losing his right to the throne after Azulon's death. He doesn't begrudge the aforementioned mugger in Ba Sing Se, as he offers advice on his life. He was never once angry with Zuko for slipping down the wrong path so many times, only sad and disappointed when he teamed up with Azula and the Dai Li against Katara and Aang, but always believed Zuko would find his way back.
Iroh has proven on several occasions to be a very good actor. He pretended to be tired to leave behind a sandal in case anyone was following him after Earth Kingdom forces captured him. A lot less noticeable to lose one while on the ground over kicking one off and risk it catching the attention of his captors. A more extensive example was from his imprisonment in the first half of Book 3. He would often play up being a crazy old man for the rude guards and also use the same act to cover up his physical training. Basically, if it suits his needs, he isn't above anything.
And while a younger Zuko may disagree, Iroh has a sense of humor. He has no qualms about teasing his nephew and making small jokes here and there.
